You don't have to be southern to appreciate biscuits and gravy. It is an easy, filling, and delicious way to start your day...or end it even. If you have some breakfast sausage on hand, you most likely have all the other ingredients. Feel free to use ready-made biscuits...cause hey...the gravy is from scratch. But if you really must, go ahead and bake those up too. If you would like your gravy to be thinner, just use a little less flour. The more flour you have and the longer it sits, the thicker it will be. However thicker gravy lets you throw it in a biscuit and eat it like a sandwich if you are in a hurry. Feel free to customize your spices and add extra ingredients like green pepper or cheese into our gravy. You can also start with spicy sausage for an extra kick! Ingredients: 1 pound ground sausage 3 cups milk 4 tablespoons flour Granulated garlic Powdered onion Black pepper Cayenne pepper Salt Brown sausage on medium to high heat in a pan. Add flour, milk, and seasonings. Mix constantly until sauce thickens. Remove from heat to thicken more. Bake your biscuits while your gravy cooks. Pour gravy over biscuits and enjoy! After the holidays or after hosting a large group you may find you have leftover mashed potatoes that need reviving. Here is the perfect recipe for turning that classic into something cutting edge:) It is almost like fried chicken and potatoes all in one bite! The ingredients are simple ones you no doubt already have on hand. And you can get creative with the mix-ins and spices depending on what you are craving. These are meat-free but you could easily include bacon bits or leftover sausage. The outside is super crunchy and the inside is soft, cheesy, and super flavorful. Make sure to fry them when they are chilled or they will fall apart more easily. Enjoy these for brunch, as a new side, or a quick on the go snack. So before you toss those bland potatoes...give them a second life! You won't be disappointed. Ingredients: Leftover mashed potatoes 1 egg Cheddar cheese Flour Granulated garlic Onion powder Cayenne pepper Salt Mix potatoes with all the ingredients. Use 1/4 cup flour with the mixture. Mix and roll into balls, then freeze for about 20 minutes. While waiting mix flour, garlic, onion, cayenne, and salt onto a plate for your pancake coating. Take out potato balls from the freezer and flatten them. Coat your pancakes, then fry on each side until crispy. Remove from oil and dry onto a paper towel. Serve and enjoy! Make your own instant oatmeal at home using oats, a food processor, and some brown sugar. Any sort of dried fruit adds to your flavor, and enjoyment. The best part is that if you have a Keurig you won't need to worry about adding too much, or too little, water. This quick and healthy meal is great when you're on the run, or you have many people to serve at different times. The best part is that you save a TON of money using this breakfast meal prep. In your food processor, pulse 2 cups of oats until it takes on the consistency of flour. Mix this with the remaining 3 cups of oats. Add brown sugar and mix until the clumps are removed. Each Packet... Use about 1/3 cup of your oats as a base for each package. Add salt. Add powdered milk (Nido is an excellent brand). Add cinnamon and raisins. Store in a mason jar or small Ziploc bags until needed. Serving... Set your Keurig to 4 ounces of water and start. Let hot water sit for about a minute, then mix and enjoy! This meal is perfect for the single guy who wants a great meal fast, or the family man who needs to feed everyone quick! It has protein, vegetables, rice, and seasonings. Just chop a few vegetables, add everything onto a frying pan (or pot), and watch a show while your masterpiece simmers to perfection. Enjoy! This bread goes well with any type of curried foods. I particularly enjoy it with chicken curry as well as ground beef and potato curry. I always looked forward to both meals growing up as a kid. I hope you enjoy this as well! Ingredients: 2 cups flour 1 1/2 to 2 cups water Salt (optional) In a bowl slowly mix in water with flour. Mix to the point that your dough is tacky. Put dough into the refrigerator for 10 minutes. On a floured surface, form round pucks about 2 inches in diameter. Flatten pucks with a roller. Place dough on a griddle, or large pan. Cook for one minute then flip over. Flip over again and your bread should start to rise almost immediately. Flip over one more time for about 30 seconds. Remove from pan and serve! |
