Our neighborhood's annual chili cookoff is coming soon, but I won't be able to enter this year to defend my title. Instead I thought I would kickoff the cookoff with a shout out to the traditional chili recipe that most of America has grown to love. Ingredients: 1.5 pounds ground beef 1 onion chopped 1 green pepper chopped 2 to 3 cloves chopped garlic 2 to 3 tablespoons chili powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon pepper 2 cans kidney beans 2 cans diced tomatoes Brown ground beef. Add onion, green pepper, and garlic. Heat for 2 minutes, then drain water. Add seasonings and heat for 2 more minutes. Put everything into a slow cooker and mix. Cook high for 3 to 4 hours or low for 5 to 6 hours. Serve and top with sour cream and cheddar cheese. Enjoy!
