This simple syrup recipe will add a great "Fall" flavor to your latte or apple cider. It takes a little time to make, but it will save a lot from your monthly budget. The next time you want a Pumpkin Spice Latte or a Pumpkin Spice Cider keep this recipe in mind. No need to go to Starbucks when you can make your own custom made syrup. Ingredients: 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup pumpkin puree 1/4 cup salt 4 cinnamon sticks 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon allspice 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Combine sugars and water into a saucepan. With heat on high, mix until sugars dissolve. When your simple syrup starts to boil lower heat to medium. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. Add pumpkin puree and spices and whisk together. Simmer for 10 more minutes. Strain through a cheese cloth and cool your syrup. Add vanilla extract, mix, and store.
