Cough drops are a great way to help sooth your throat. Try making your own with this great recipe. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. The key to a solid drop is when you remove the sugar mixture from your heat (see the directions below). But if they end up on the chewy side no worries. Just wrap each one in some wax (or parchment) paper so that they don't combine together. Ginger is great for nausea, inflammation, and muscle pain. Cloves kill bacteria, regulate blood sugar, and promotes liver health. The honey is mainly to sooth your throat. The sugar...isn't really good for you, but it does allow you to get a nice solid cough drop. Ingredients: 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cups water 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 tablespoon honey Mix sugar and water into a saucepan and let the sugar dissolve in low to medium heat. Add lemon juice, ginger, and cloves. Let mixture boil for about 20 minutes. When the sugar is at the "hard crack"stage (300°F) remove from heat. Add honey and mix. On parched paper drop mixture and let cool. Dust with powdered sugar and store in a container.
